Meet Our Vice Chair: Angela Baran

Angela Baran, Alliance Vice-Chair
Senior Director of Community Impact Programs, Healthcare Foundation
of Northern Lake County

What inspired you to join the Alliance for Human Services Board?
I thought having the perspective of a funder would be valuable in supporting organizational growth and strengthening community presence.

What does human services mean to you personally or professionally?
Human services are the pathway to equity. While policies and government programs help build the framework, human services advance equity by supporting people with dignity and compassion, no matter the challenges they face.

Tell us a little about your current role and how it connects to community impact.
It’s right there in my title! At the Healthcare Foundation of Northern Lake County, we strive to be a catalyst and partner in efforts that improve the health and well-being of underserved communities.

What is one goal or hope you have for the Alliance in the year ahead?
That all members can clearly and confidently articulate the value of membership.

What makes Lake County special to you?
I love the value we place on nature—reflected in our forest preserves, parks, recreational spaces, and, of course, our lakes.
