Our History

The Alliance for Human Services began through the foresight and generosity of the Lake County Community Foundation which sought to strengthen the capacity of the human service network and nurture the ability for individual organizations to work together. In conjunction with significant capacity building investments that included grantmaking and technical assistance workshops, LCCF facilitated a series of dialogues between 2008 and 2010. A key issue that emerged was the realization that Lake County service providers have many shared clients but did not know enough about each other to efficiently coordinate care. LCCF launched the Leadership Task Force to address this and other systemic issues. From this, the Alliance for Human Services was born to carry forth and expand upon the work of the task force.

Today, the Alliance is a not-for-profit membership organization led by a volunteer board of directors. We remain committed to the original vision of improving the delivery of human services by nurturing collaboration among agencies and strengthening agencies from within through the provision of professional development, education and informational resources. Our vision is to ensure that all Lake County health and human service agencies have the resources and capacity to effectively meet the needs of the county’s diverse communities.
