AHS Annual Meeting Keynote Speaker Announced
Join us for the AHS Annual Meeting on Friday, June 20, a hybrid event bringing together leaders and professionals from across Lake County’s human services sector. This year’s keynote speaker is Dr. Michael Karner, Lake County Regional Superintendent of Schools, who will present “The State of Education” — an insightful address covering local, regional, state, and national trends shaping the future of education. Whether you attend in person or virtually, this meeting offers a valuable opportunity to reflect on the year’s progress, hear from a key education leader, and connect with fellow members. Dr. Karner currently serves as the Regional Superintendent of Schools for Lake County, IL which oversees 45 public schools, 27 private schools, 3 special education cooperatives, 2 charter school districts, and 1 county technical high school. Dr. Karner also serves on the ISBE Equity Committee and PRP Panel. As Regional Superintendent of Schools, Dr. Karner has offered new programs and supports for districts in the areas of early childhood, mental health, professional development, and work-based learning. Dr. Karner created the Illinois Virtual Schools & Academy which has served over 10,000 students across the state. Dr. Karner previously served as a Principal, Assistant Principal, Mathematics, Spanish and ELL teacher and football coach. Michael received his Doctorate in Curriculum and Instruction from Aurora University, Educational Specialist Degree in Educational Leadership from Concordia University, Masters in Educational Leadership from Aurora University, and Bachelor’s Degree from Lake Forest College.
