Vote and Join Us June 17, at 8AM!

The Alliance is excited to kick off fiscal year 2023 with our hybrid annual meeting on Friday, June 17th from 8:00-9:15AM. The meeting will feature a conversation with State Senator Melinda Bush as well as a vote on the board slate. Members can attend in person at University Center (1200 University Center Dr, Grayslake) or online. Please RSVP by June 10th to let us know how you will be joining us.

Whether you are joining us in person or virtually, please take a minute to designate an organization representative and vote on the Alliance FY 2023 board slate. To vote please use this link to access the Google Sheet.

Finally, there is still time to provide input on our compensation survey. The survey is an opportunity to explore how agency compensation compares across the County. You don’t have to be a member to participate or access the results. But the results are only as good as the number of organizations participating. Please access the survey here and forward it on throughout your Lake County contacts. The survey closes on June 10th!

RESPOND

In May, RESPOND members picked up additional skills to better support those experiencing a mental health or substance abuse crisis. We also learned about free mental health first aid training through a conversation with Lake County Health Department Behavioral Health Service M.H.F.A. Coordinator, Phillip DeRuntz, M.Ed. CBT.

June Meeting on 6/4 at 11:30 AM

Because evictions continue to spike in Lake County and across the country, RESPOND members will have the opportunity to pick up additional skills to prevent and provide attorneys the information they need to combat evictions. The Alliance is excited to welcome Katie E. Pinter, Supervising Attorney, Prairie State Legal Services, Inc.

RESPOND Leadership meeting on 6/10 at 11:00AM

Help to shape the RESPOND community by encouraging collaboration and increasing your skills as well as those of fellow frontline and social workers. All are welcome.

Alliance Meeting

The Alliance virtual meetings are tailored to the needs of leaders throughout Lake County’s social service sector. The meetings are an opportunity to learn best practices, share resources, and connect with each other. During the May meeting, we talked about the great resignation and heard from an expert on how to support and keep the new workers on your team.

The Alliance welcomed Candace Fisher, SPHR, SHRM-SCP, Certified Coach and Director, Organizational Development at HR Source. Candace works with members to help develop the talent in their organizations. This includes facilitating training sessions, coaching individual managers and teams and designing organization-specific performance management systems. She also facilitates training sessions at HR Source and, as part of our HR Hotline team, advises members on a variety of organizational issues such as employee relations, supervisory and management concerns and change management. In her spare time, Candace volunteers at a local humane society and has earned the moniker, “Crazy Cat Lady” at the Association.

The Alliance is excited to partner with HR Source to offer a special membership rate.

Compensation Survey

So many of us are struggling to hire and retain staff. But what is the average salary for staff in the Lake County Human Service Sector?

The Alliance is partnering with the Boys and Girls Club of Lake County to conduct a survey to to help develop consistent compensation within the industry, improve our compensation structure and help each of us fundraise for it.

Please fill the survey out and sent it to others in the industry to improve the results. If you would like to receive the results, please email the Alliance. The survey is anonymous.

Thank you for participating in the survey and improving transparency within the sector! Survey closes 6/10
