Sadly, an estimated 1 out of 13 children will experience the death of a parent or sibling before the age of 18. Additionally, the recent impact of COVID and mental health crisis, only further highlights the importance of creating grief-informed communities and systems of care for families following loss. During this meeting, Missing Pieces Grief and Willow House will describe the developmental impact on children and young adults and share with you simple tips and tools to help support healing and mean-making after the loss of a loved one. Local resources will also be highlighted for families in Lake County who have experienced loss from illness, trauma, homicide, overdose and suicide, and grieving perinatal through adult deaths.
